SHADO Mbeya offers to leverage the untapped potential of faith-based systems to deliver quality nurturing care to children under 3 years in Tanzania. SHADO Mbeya adopts the care group model approach to target young mothers, adult women, and male caregivers with integrated Early Childhood Development (ECD) services while incorporating household economic strengthening interventions. This project is implemented in two Mbeya Districts; Mbarali and Chunya where 14 Wards and 60 Villages are participating.
The project is for three years from 2022/2023 to 2024/2025, funded by Conrad Hilton Foundation through Catholic Relief Services (CRS )Tanzania.
The Goal of the Project:
- Faith-based systems are leveraged to contribute to improved Early Childhood Development outcomes for children under 3 years in Tanzania.
Specific Objectives of the project.
- Increase the adoption of nurturing care practices for children under three by young mothers and adult caregivers in Tanzania
- Strengthen the capacity of faith-based leaders to advocate for nurturing care policies and practices in the same faith, interfaith, local, and national ECD networks in Tanzania.
